Trombone shot

The Trombone Shot is used to create an sense of unease, shock or sudden realiseation in the main character.  It looks like the background moves further away from the subject creating distance between him/her and everything around him.

It is very simple to achieve, you simply move the camera towards the subject while zooming out at a rate that will keep him/her the same size during the movement.

Some things to watch out for:
1. The rate at which you have to zoom out changes as the camera gets closer.
2. Apart from forwards movement, you have to keep the camera very still.
3. As you are moving towards your subject you may have to focus as well.
